Service Description

This is a very rare chance to spend time to create one of the crafts most iconic bowl forms of modern times under the guidance of Nick Agar ! Nick now lives in the US and this is one of only a couple of UK classes he'll be taking this year. This bowl form was first made by Nick in Norway and has become so well known and requested that I'm delighted to be able to have him teach here in sunny Devon. As an extra little bonus and if time permits these same skills with then be used to turn your own Viking chalice. The two day course covers work holding options, the process of texturing, Punches, colouring and the use of stains, lacquers and metal effects. CLASSROOM FACILITIES 

The classroom provides individual lathes, complete sets of turning tools, safety gear, and all necessary materials for each student. Located in a well-lit and spacious workshop on a thriving farm shop site, it offers a refreshing environment with opportunities for retail therapy during breaks from turning.

SCHEDULE FOR THE DAY 

  •  9:30am - 10am            Warm welcome, introductions over coffee 

  • 10am - 1pm                   Workshop time 

  • 1pm - 2pm                     Lunch

  • 2pm - 4pm                   Workshop time

  • 4pm - 4:30pm             Debrief and unwind

Lunch is provided onsite at the farm shops Wonderfull super cosy restaurant 

SAFETY INFORMATION

We provide safety visors and a soft dust mask but feel free to bring your own safety gear. Wear appropriate shoes; no open sandals, deck shoes, or flip-flops. Please inform us of any medical conditions for emergency preparedness.

CANCELATION POLICY

  • Deposit required on signup and balance paid on arrival

  • No refunds are given if you withdraw 6 weeks or less prior to course 

  • If you withdraw up to 2 months before a class, you may apply this amount to future class' within six months of your cancelled class date.

  • Exceptions will be handled on a case-by-case basis
