2 DAY BOWL AND PLATTER TURNING COURSE


Service Description

This two-day woodturning course is designed for intermediate to advanced turners, focusing on enhancing bowl-turning skills. Students will refine push and pull cuts using the bowl gouge, explore effective work-holding techniques, and learn to identify and address hold points. The course covers sharpening methods and various bowl gouge angles. While the primary tool is the Bowl gouge, students will also utilise other essential traditional tools. Projects include crafting a toffee dish, a small fruit bowl, and a wide-rim platter. What you will learn: Tool selection Perfecting the push and pull cuts with the bowl gouge Bowl gouge sharpening The main tools used: Bowl gouge A range of basic turning tools What you will make: Toffee dish Small fruit bowl Wide rim platter

CLASSROOM FACILITIES 

The classroom provides individual lathes, complete sets of turning tools, safety gear, and all necessary materials for each student. Located in a well-lit and spacious workshop on a thriving farm shop site, it offers a refreshing environment with opportunities for retail therapy during breaks from turning.

  •  9:30am - 10am            Warm welcome, introductions over coffee 

  • 10am - 1pm                   Workshop time 

  • 1pm - 2pm                     Lunch

  • 2pm - 4pm                   Workshop time

  • 4pm - 4:30pm             Debrief and unwind

Lunch is provided onsite at the farm shops Wonderfull super cosy restaurant 

SAFETY INFORMATION

We provide safety visors and a soft dust mask but feel free to bring your own safety gear. Wear appropriate shoes; no open sandals, deck shoes, or flip-flops. Please inform us of any medical conditions for emergency preparedness.

CANCELATION POLICY

  • Deposit required on signup and balance paid on arrival

  • No refunds are given if you withdraw 6 weeks or less prior to course 

  • If you withdraw up to 2 months before a class, you may apply this amount to future class' within six months of your cancelled class date.

  • Exceptions will be handled on a case-by-case basis
